Teaching Money? Free websites for Primary teachers

Money MasterMoney Master is a free online website that allows users to select their currency (Australian, Canadian, USA, New Zealand, Chinese, Singapore and many more) before playing a range of interactive games. Games include matching money amounts and calculating change.

For Australian teachers, Lemonade Stand is another free online game. This version of Lemonade Stand allows students to select a level (easy, medium or hard) before playing. The aim of the game is to read the newspaper daily (it appears in the game) in order to purchase the correct amount of pitchers (cups of lemonade). On hot days people are more likely to buy a pitcher of lemonade. Students can even set the price for each pitcher. A day in the game takes about 30 seconds and at the end of the day profit or loss is graphed. If students run out of money they need to retire and then start the game again.

Australian teachers can also customise and generate their own free money worksheets online. Lunch Lady by Mr Nussbaum is also another great game. For history and information about the production of Australian money visit the Royal Australian Mint website.
