Diigo: Free multi-tool for managing online research

CaptureIn its simplest terms, Diigo is a free online tool which enables users to not only manage their bookmarks on any computer or iPad ( you will also need this) or Android (you will also need this) device in order to create their own cloud library; Diigo also enables users to digitally annotate the web and share collaboratively with groups of people. Below is a video demonstration which shows the basics of Diigo. Personally, I liked the ability to highlight and add sticky notes to web pages.

Introduction to Diigo from EdTechTeacher on Vimeo.

I read about Diigo in an article by Edutopia called “Creating a Custom Reading Experience with Mobile Devices“. If you get some time over the Summer holiday break, this article is worth reading as it discusses why, how and where students are reading in relation to mobile devices. ” Regardless of the device, students can now read in an environment that is searchable, referenceable, shareable, accessible and mobile” (Edutopia Reference Link).
