You may not be able to have ducks at school but you can get a scrap bucket!

Indian runner ducks are used to control pests instead of using chemicals (see video at the bottom of this post). However, if you are like me, you can’t have an army of ducks at school (I only have two at home 🙂 ).

However, you can introduce a class scrap/compost bucket where students place their scraps. At the end of the day ,you simply take the scraps to your compost or even create a compost place at school. I also have a green basket out the front of my classroom so that students can place their plastic containers during recess and lunch. This encourages nude food, helping the environment and helping parents keep track of their plastic containers!
