SketchUp 3D Design (Y6-10)

During Term 1 in Mathematics, our Year 7 students investigated measurement by calculating volumes of rectangular prisms and exploring formulas for areas of rectangles, triangles and parallelograms, and used these in problem solving. To integrate these skills within the Digital Technologies program, students were set the challenge; to design a house to scale.

The rooms, walls and furniture all needed to be to scale. Students originally designed on paper and then students used Google SketchUp, a 3D modelling computer program to create model of their house. In order to be successful, students needed to apply a range of skills from different curriculum areas to create their final pieces. Below are some student work samples.
